How To Find Your Dryer Model Number

The Model and Serial tag on most dryers is located around the door opening. Sometimes you will find them on the door or on the front where the door closes.

Some manufacturers put them on the side panel near the bottom front and occasionally on the lower portion of the front. Less often manufacturers put dryer model numbers on the back of the control panel.

Always use the model number located on your dryer when searching for parts or requesting service because the care and use guide (owners manual) that came with your dryer is often generic for several models and may not indicate changes made to your specific dryers production run.

A short history about the clothes dryer
George Sampson, from Dayton Ohio, invented the first clothes dryer in 1872. Before that if the clothesline was unavailable because of rain or winter, most people dried their clothes on or near the stove or an open fire. Around 1940 demand for home clothes dryers became sufficient that large manufacturers started selling them with an estimated 60,000 dryers per year. Today, almost every home has a clothes dryer.
